Dress Code Policy

 

Dress Code Notification

At Mainland High School , students are to observe modesty, appropriateness and neatness in clothing and personal appearance.  The following regulations concerning dress and grooming are deemed necessary and will be enforced:

1.  Students must wear shoes (firm soles).  Bedroom shoes/slippers may not be worn.

2.  Pants must be worn in an appropriate manner around the waist.  UNDERGARMENTS SHOULD NEVER BE VISIBLE!!!!

3.  Transparent, mesh and/or see through materials should not be worn without the proper undergarments.

4.  Bare midriff attire, open back attire, spaghetti straps, pajamas, tank top t-shirts, and chained wallets, etc. are not allowed.

5.  Shirts must be worn at all times.

6.  Inappropriate head dress such as bandanas, scarves, hoods, hats, skullcaps etc. are not permitted.  No gang or secret society attire will be permitted.  Hats are not to be worn in the cafeteria, classroom, assemblies, gym, etc.

7.  Clothing should not display inappropriate pictures, words or phrases, etc.

8.  No facial piercing of soft tissue areas will be permitted.

Any student not suitably dressed or groomed may be dismissed from school or class until the violation has been corrected.  A student who is repeatedly in violation of the above regulations may be suspended. 

The school administration shall have the right to appraise any current fashion or fad to determine whether it is appropriate for school wear.
