AVID Site Team Meeting –10/1/08

Welcome, duties confirmed

  1. Parent Report – Need Parent Reps (contacting Mrs. Fryar, Ms. English, etc.)  Our goal should be 10!
  2. Fundraising ideas…
    1. HC Booth – Cotton Candy or Rock Band (Need ext cord, TV, TV stand, etc.)
    2. Car Wash – Oct. 18th at MHS 9:00 AM – 2:00 PM (Show Sales Sheet/Flyer in rooms?)
    3. Sponsor Letter (Lab kids working on this; need support in spreading the word, please take a copy)
    4. Bowl A Thon (Feb)
    5. 500 Parking (Feb)
    6. Ideas?
  3. Mainland Tutors to help! (Periods 1, 4, 5, 6 and 7) – Waiting on Canning, right now we have 3 (Vincent Sabatini, John Washington, Herakles Boardman,  Ryan Maciog’s, Joshua Levy and Nicole)
  4. T Shirts – will get these as soon as we have car wash money collected
  5. Updated Contact List! (Take a copy)
  6. ACT/SAT Fee Waivers?! (Canning)
  7. Website – Mr. Graichen is making a link for AVID! (http://www.nu-site.com/organizations/yearbook/home.html#)
  8. AVID Newsletter – Online on our new link (We will include our sponsors)
  9. Account Update: 1,104 for supplies/1,104 for buses (bad news is we need money for subs)
  10. Parent Volunteer Forms – need volunteers to save money!!! (Forms available)
  11. Field Trips:

                    1.  9th: BCU 1st semester (Lundy) Called and emailed Judith Bennett about Nov. 7th/Stetson 2nd semester (Mandell)/College Experience (Mandell)/ERAU Women in Aviation (Lundy)/UCF STEM Conference (Lundy)
2.  10th: UCF 1st semester (Alvator)/JU or UNF 2nd semester (Harden), any    
more ideas?

  1. 11th: UCF (w/ 10th graders) 1st semester/UF 2nd semester (Callahan - Apr. 24th lets go for leaving around 8:00 am)
  2. 12th: USF?/FSU?
