AVID Overview
Mission - To prepare middle and high school students, with academic potential, for success in advanced academics and to prepare for eligibility and success in four-year colleges and universities
AVID meets the needs by:
□ Providing academic instruction and other support to students to prepare them for eligibility to four-year colleges and universities.
□ Giving student’s college level entry skills.
□ Increasing the “coping skills” of program students.
□ Motivating program student to seek college education.
□ Increasing the student’s level of career awareness.

□ 2.0-3.5 GPA in non-college prep curriculum
□ College Potential with support
□ Desire and Determination
Students Meet One of More of the Following Criteria
□ First to Attend College
□ Historically Underserved in four-year colleges
□ Low Income
□ Special Circumstances
□ Potential to take advanced placement classes with support from teachers and tutors
AVID Program Requirements
□ Meet selection requirements, including an interview
□ Participate in the AVID curriculum offered in the designated elective course
□ Maintain a 3 ring AVID notebook (provided) and maintain assignment sheet for each subject
□ Enroll in college preparatory courses
□ Maintain a “C” average
□ Participate in AVID tutorials and complete tutorial forms
□ Take the PSAT and SAT
□ Participate in fundraising activities
□ Attend AVID field trips
□ Positive role model for others
